UCLA’s Dr. Norweeta Milburn advocates for evidence-based assistance for homeless individuals during the pandemic

A recent article by the American Psychological Association discusses the actions psychologists nationwide are taking to address mental health related concerns exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. As psychologists work to increase access to mental health care for vulnerable populations, community psychologist and co-director of the UCLA HIV/AIDS, Substance Abuse, and Trauma Training Program (HA-STTP), Norweeta Milburn, PhD, advocates for “housing first” to assist homeless individuals and their families. The housing first approach prioritizes housing placements before mental health treatment.
