The Prevention Center of Excellence (COE) builds platforms and programming that engages the community, promotes interconnection among county agencies, increases training across ecosystems, and ensures live handoffs to link people with the support they need to improve their overall wellbeing.

The COE’s current projects include:

  • Interdepartmental workgroups on trauma informed practices
  • Full-service partnership transformation
  • Fellowship for Early Childhood Professionals
  • LGBTQ+ learning initiatives
  • Training, consultation, and coaching on developing trauma responsive and resilience supporting child welfare systems
  • Professional development opportunities for teachers and school staff
  • Training, consultation, and coaching on building connected and supportive school environments
  • Program development to enhance wellbeing of system-involved youth

The COE team also supports specific programming within the following agencies:

  • LA County Department of Child and Family Services
  • LA County Office of Education
  • Los Angeles Unified School District
  • Short Term Residential Therapeutic Programs (STRTP)
  • LA County Department of Probation (Juvenile Justice)
  • LA County Libraries
